ExxonMobil Looks to Battelle Expert to Co-author and Present Environmental Impact Paper at SPE EHS Australia
ExxonMobil experts looked to Principal Industrial Consultant Alan Tilstone to co-author and present a white paper at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)/Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) International Conference on Health, Safety and Environment in the Oil and Gas Exploration and Production (HSE) held in Perth, Australia. The conference focused on the evolving challenges of protecting people and the environment. The co-authored paper was on the Impact of Water Based Drilling Fluid and Cuttings Discharge Offshore Nigeria Using Sediment Profile Imaging Technology.

SETAC North America Conference Serves as Platform for Battelle Environmental Chemistry Expertise
Resourced for their environmental chemistry expertise, several Battelle researchers presented at the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry's (SETAC) North America 33rd Annual Conference. The meeting focused on the analysis of environmental problems, the management of natural resources, and environmental education. Battelle Senior Research Scientist Mark Benotti presented a poster entitled Analysis of Gasoline Using Whole-Oil GC-MS Method, in addition to presenting a poster on Analytical Considerations for the Determination of Petroleum Biomarkers. Principle Research Scientist Franco Pala presented two posters: Environmental Considerations with Detergent Formulations in the Household and another poster on The Use of LC-MS/MS and GC-MS methods for the Quantification and Characterization of Anionic Surfactants in Detergent Formulations.


Oceans '12 Conference Showcases Battelle's Undersea Technologies
In October, conference attendees learned about three novel Battelle technologies at the Oceans '12 Conference which took place in Hampton Roads, VA: Research Leader David Pyle presented on Porteus and the Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) Docking and Recharging Station; Senior Research Scientist Jac Fought highlighted the OceanGen wave energy harvester; and Project Manager Rich Granger presented on Harbor Shield, a sonar technology that scans ships' hulls as they enter the harbor identifying explosive threats or criminal activity such as drug running.


SPE Advanced Oilfield Chemicals Forum Highlights Battelle's Fracturing Fluid Innovations
Oil and gas industry and material science experts gathered in Algarve, Portugal, October 1-5, 2012, at the SPE Forum on Advanced Chemicals and Fluids for the Oilfield, where Battelle Senior Research Scientist Steven Risser shared Battelle's research methodology for developing new fracturing fluids.


SPE Journal of Petroleum Technology Publishes Battelle-authored Shale Gas Reserve Estimations paper
Battelle Research Leader Srikanta Mishra recently published a paper in the SPE Journal of Petroleum Technology on shale gas reserve estimations.
