Proteus can be used in two configurations:

• Single-user, standalone with the client and server on the same computer
• Multi-user, with the server software on a separate server.

You will need the following software:

Listed below are suggested hardware requirements. Two numbers are provided. The first number reflects the minimum standard while the second number (shown after the slash) is our recommended standard. Which standard is appropriate for you will depend upon how you intend to install and use the software. Using a faster processor or additional RAM will improve Proteus's™ performance, particularly when creating long reports.

If you intend to use a client/server configuration, you will also need to consider the number of other applications running on the same server and the number of users accessing the software at the same time. High use conditions may require higher hardware requirements than those listed below. In addition, the amount of disk space you will need will depend, in part, on the number of programs you intend to create. Please keep these considerations in mind when assessing your hardware needs.

Standalone configuration:

• 500 MHz or higher processor/850 MHz or higher processor
• 256 MB of RAM or higher
• 250 MB of free drive space/500 MB of free drive space

Multi-user configuration server:

• 750 MHz or higher processor/1.2 GHz or higher processor
• 256 MB of RAM or higher/512 MB of RAM or higher
• 450 MB of free disk space

Multi-user configuration client:

• 300 MHz or higher processor/850 MHz or higher processor
• 128 MB of RAM or higher/256 MB of RAM or higher
• 50 MB of free disk space/100 MB of free disk space
